A new $2.00 “Paint Tax” fee is now in effect in Illinois! Also, you pay sales tax on the fee. Illinois Democrats have implemented a “paint care fee”, this fee is now being added on to the purchase price of all paint sold in Illinois.
This new tax comes just in time for a spring painting projects. JB Pritzker (D) signed the Democrat sponsored legislation that now requires Illinois shoppers to pay an additional tax on paint products.
The Illinois way: Shoppers will pay a sales tax on the assessed paint fee that’s added to the cost of the paint— the Illinois democrat’s way! Of the 12 states that have implemented this new tax, Illinois has the highest fee of all.
BOTTOM LINE = The funds generated here will go to the stewardship of the paint program.
